Barry-Roubaix: The Killer Gravel Road Race
will be held March 27th, 2010 at a new start/finish location. The Yankee Springs Recreation Areas Gun Lake Unit on Briggs/Gun Lake Road will provide us with the ability to start and finish the race in the same location, additional parking and better viewing for families.
There is no racer limit, sign-ups are welcome on the day of starting at 7:30 a.m.
All vehicles entering the Gun Lake Unit will need a Michigan State Park motor vehicle permit, either an annual or daily pass. Please have permits purchased in advance to speed up the entrance to the parking area come race day. You can purchase your annual pass on-line here. Daily pass is only available on site.
Due to the anticipated increase in racers and on-site logistics, food and kegs will not be served in 2010. A large bonfire on the beach is planned and beer is allowed in the park so plan to bring your own (or win a tasty six pack of Founders Ale) and enjoy the afterparty.
The new location also means that each race category will be slightly longer than last year. The distance from the Gun Lake Unit to Hastings Point Road is approximately 2 miles each way or a 4 mile total increase.
Would you like to race the 65 miler but don’t consider yourself Elite? No problem, just sign up, the choice is up to you. No license required in any class or category.
You may confirm who has entered the race by going to the Bike Reg link and checking the confirmed riders list.
A free Barry-Roubaix pints glass to the first 200 racers that pre-register!
Long Sleeve T-shirts available for purchase when registering in advance.
A very limited amount of pint glasses and t-shirts will be available for purchase day of.
A race like this takes many volunteers. If you would like to help please contact me via the contact button on this site. We will comp a free entry in return for a 2-3 hour volunteer shift.
No refund of any kind will be allowed. Although you can transfer your entry to another rider via Bike Reg prior to March 21st 2010.
