Greenware Beer Tent for 2012

This will be disappointing to some but for 2102 we will have to enlist a non-profit to sell and serve beer. State of Michigan laws and licencing for selling and serving beer is continually tightening and we must adhere to the law. The good news is that we will keep the prices very reasonable, have a better selection of Founders, and help raise funds for the West Michigan Mountain Biking Alliance’s 50 in 5 campaign, 50 miles of single track in 5 years! Cheers to that!

For those of you not watching the Bike Reg confirmed riders list, 1034 racers have signed up as of this morning 1-23-12. I would imagine a sellout in mid February so be careful playing the wait and see game..

More dirt, less pavement!

All three courses now include about an additional .06 miles of two track on the south end of Otis Lake. The change eliminates 1 mile of pavement and replaces it with 1.6 miles of challenging dirt two-track! The maps have been updated.

New wrinkle to the race

The Ultra CX Series requires each venue to include at least one dismount in the race. I have found one forest road with a sandy climb about 35 yards long, most likely everyone would have to run this section. It is about 5 miles from the end of the race and adds 6 10ths of a mile. It looks like our only option to comply with the rules. This would be for the 61 mile racers only. It is really a fun section actually, similar to the Sager two track. Should we include this for the 35 milers too? How about the 23 milers?

That’s right! We have sold 750 entries to the 2012 event so far. This years race is capped at 1500 racers so there are only 750 spots available. Will they be gone by February 1st?

Check it out, category #[27] has been added to Bike Reg, Fat Bikes with at least 3.7″ tires are now included in the 35 mile race. (no 23 or 61 mile option)
